Private Whisper Privacy Policy

Private Whisper: AI Notes is built privacy-first. Audio never leaves your device — transcription happens entirely on-device using Apple’s on-device speech engine.

What We Collect

Private Whisper does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. All recordings, transcripts, and notes you create stay on your device.

No account sign-up is required.
No analytics or tracking SDKs are embedded in the app.
No contact information, device identifiers, or usage data is sent to us.

What We Don’t Collect

We never upload your audio recordings to any server.
We never upload your transcripts or notes to any server.
We do not sync your data to iCloud or any third-party cloud.
We do not sell, share, or monetize your data in any way.

On-Device Processing

Transcription is performed locally on your iPhone or iPad using Apple’s SFSpeechRecognizer in on-device mode. Your audio is processed by the operating system without an internet round-trip. If your device does not support on-device recognition for the selected language, the app will inform you rather than silently fall back to a network service.

Face ID / Touch ID

Private Whisper uses Face ID or Touch ID (Apple’s LocalAuthentication framework) to lock your recordings and transcripts. Biometric data is handled entirely by iOS — the app never sees or stores your face scan or fingerprint. We only receive a yes/no result from the system.

Subscriptions

Optional premium features are offered through an in-app subscription managed by RevenueCat on top of Apple’s StoreKit. When you subscribe:

Apple processes the purchase and handles billing. We do not see your payment details.
RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous app-generated user ID so it can validate your subscription status across devices. No name, email, or contact information is sent.

Data Storage

All recordings, transcripts, and app settings are stored locally on your device. If you delete the app, this data is removed along with it. We do not keep any backup copies.

Children’s Privacy

Private Whisper is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone, including children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at the same URL with a revised “Last updated” date.
